John Bagot Hospital
by John Bell
Age 4, in 1959, sent to the John Bagot hospital in Havelock St, a "centre of excellence" for taking tonsils out!

Parents had difficulty getting there because of the fog/smog (which was probably why we all had respiratory problems).

I remember kind nurses, only being able to eat soggy cornflakes (yuk) and ice cream (hooray) in a ward of old guys with tracheotomies drinking Guinness through tubes!

Still not sure what this operation (tonsilectomy) ever did for me!
